HR Benefits Specialist II
Location: Sacramento, CA
Schedule: Hybrid | Day Shift, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM
Position Overview
The HR Benefits Specialist II provides transactional and administrative support for health and welfare benefit programs within an HR Shared Services or Total Rewards environment. This role is responsible for benefits eligibility, enrollment, life event processing, billing reconciliation, and vendor coordination, while ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely issue resolution. The position supports highvolume case management and partners closely with thirdparty administrators to deliver a consistent employee experience.
Responsibilities
  • Administer health and welfare benefit programs, including eligibility determinations, enrollments, and life event changes
  • Support benefits claims review and appeals by collecting, reviewing, and documenting required information
  • Maintain accurate case records and benefits data within HRIS and benefits administration systems
  • Reconcile benefits billing, premiums, and vendor reports; assist with audits and data validation
  • Process invoices and reimbursements, including education assistance and related benefit programs
  • Respond to escalated employee inquiries and coordinate with vendors to resolve benefits, payment, and system issues
  • Support open enrollment activities, wellness program tracking, and yearend benefits processes
  • Ensure compliance with benefits regulations, policies, and internal procedures
  • Contribute to process improvements through documentation, quality checks, and issue trend analysis
Required Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalent experience
  • 1+ year of experience in HR, benefits administration, or HR operations
  • Experience with benefits eligibility, enrollment, and claims or appeals processing
  • Experience using HRIS or benefits administration systems
  • Ability to interpret benefits policies, regulations, and compliance requirements
  • Experience reconciling benefits billing, premiums, or vendor reports
  • Experience supporting thirdparty administrators or benefits vendors
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage highvolume cases and documentation
  • Proficiency in data entry, reporting, and basic calculations (percentages, deductions)
  • Experience in a healthcare system or large enterprise HR environment
  • Experience supporting open enrollment and lifeevent transactions
  • Familiarity with wellness programs and education assistance benefits
  • Experience with benefits audits, data validation, or compliance reviews
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel or reporting tools
  • Experience working in a shared services or centralized HR model

Our program provides employees the flexibility to choose the type of coverage that meets their individual needs. Available paid leave may include Paid Sick Leave, where required by law; any other paid leave required by Federal, State, or local law; and Holiday pay upon meeting eligibility criteria.
Pay Details: $29.00 to $30.00 per hour
